Job Purpose

Our Personal Assistants support people to lead full, active, and socially connected lives, helping them achieve what matters most to them.

Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

This young man is supported 24/7 by an individual team from Thistle Foundation. Flexibility and spontaneity are important, as is being a team player and using your initiative. He appreciates a team that makes things happen, is outgoing, flexible (to support him on trips, holidays, and gaps in shifts), chatty, and has a sense of humour.

There are 2x18hrs posts available; sleepovers will be required, and a full UK driving licence is preferred.

About this opportunity

The gentleman lives in his own flat near the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh and has his own car, which his team drives. He enjoys leading a busy life: dancing, pottery, media, listening to music, going to concerts, socialising, and meeting new people. He is spontaneous and adventurous, having piloted planes, driven speedboats, and skied. He has traveled to Africa, America, and Australia and is currently involved in developing a website.

  1. Salary: Starting salary £12.10 per hour (£24,538 per annum (FTE)), rising to £12.40 per hour (£25,147 (FTE)).

  4. Support to achieve SVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
