Job Opportunity: Personal Assistant (PA) for Leisure and Community Activities


I’m looking to employ a reliable, enthusiastic, and compassionate Personal Assistant (PA) to support a young adult with complex needs to access leisure activities in the community. This is a second PA
role, working alongside another carer already in post.

About the role:
Supporting the individual to go swimming with another PA — you must be comfortable in the water and able to provide support in the pool. Swimming sessions are most likely to take place on weekdays.

  • Attending music events (including live music in pubs), farm shows, visits to farms, and other community outings — these are more likely to take place on weekends or in the evenings.
  • Supporting attendance at S.E.N. discos in Harrogate.
  • Working as part of a small, friendly team to enable the individual to enjoy their interests and participate safely and fully in their chosen activities.
Essential qualities:

Kind, patient, and calm under pressure.
  • Physically fit and able to provide support in the water.
  • Willing to learn about the individual’s communication style and sensory needs.
  • Comfortable working alongside another PA or carer.
Desirable (but not essential):
Experience supporting someone with learning disabilities, autism, or complex health needs.

Pay and hours:

£15.69 per hour, paid employment.
  • Minimum of 6 hours per week, with potential for up to 12 hours per week.
  • Possibility of additional hours during holiday periods.
