Overview

Personal Assistant 2hrs a week on a Tuesday night to provide support in Salford at You Can. This is for a 15-year-old male who has SETBP1 Disorder (including speech delays and global developmental delay), ADHD and ASD. Job Reference: LW001. Contract Type: Part Time Permanent.

Responsibilities
  • The Personal Assistant (PA) will provide 1:1 support to a 15-year-old male with SETBP1-HD, speech and language delays, global developmental delays, ADHD, and ASD.
  • The PA will assist in fostering independence, supporting social interactions, and ensuring safety during weekly youth club sessions at Salford Youth Zone on Sundays from 11-3.
  • Supervision: Provide close supervision throughout the session to ensure safety.
  • Encouraging Social Interaction: Support appropriate social engagement with peers; encourage communication by facilitating conversations and interactions; assist in interpreting social cues and responding appropriately.
  • Promoting Independence: Encourage self-confidence and decision-making skills; offer guidance while allowing the teen to complete tasks independently where possible.
  • Participation in Activities: Engage in games and activities alongside the teen to model appropriate participation; teach and reinforce the rules of games to ensure fair and safe play; help prevent accidental damage to equipment by providing guidance on handling materials appropriately.
  • Ensuring Safety & Well-being: Monitor interactions to prevent distress or overstimulation; redirect or de-escalate challenging behaviours if necessary; maintain awareness of the teen’s emotional and sensory needs and adapt support accordingly.
  • Communication & Reporting: Provide brief feedback to parents or guardians after each session; communicate any concerns or progress regarding social interactions, independence, or well-being.

This role requires patience, empathy, and experience working with neurodivergent individuals.
