Job summary

A caring Personal Assistant is sought to support a young lady with complex needs in her home. The role combines companionship with practical support, while giving her mother a break from full-time caring responsibilities.

The resident has borderline personality disorder and epilepsy, requiring patience, vigilance for seizures, and a caring approach. DBS checks are required and references will be checked to ensure suitability.

Responsibilities

• Provide a sitting service, supervising and supporting the young lady in the home
• Ensure her safety and wellbeing, particularly in relation to her epilepsy and seizures
• Offer companionship and engagement, including supporting her interest in crafts and activities
• Assist with meal preparation and light household tasks
• Support with general cleaning, including maintaining the bathroom and living areas
• Help maintain a calm and structured environment
• Enable her mother to take breaks, attend work and training, and spend time with friends and family

Job description

We are seeking a caring, reliable, and resilient Personal Assistant to support a young lady with complex needs in her home. The role is designed to provide both companionship and practical support, while also giving her mother a much-needed break from her full-time caring responsibilities.

The young lady has borderline personality disorder and epilepsy, which includes frequent seizures. She is a warm, kind, thoughtful, and very funny individual who enjoys creative activities such as crafting. However, she can experience significant emotional ups and downs and may at times communicate in a very direct or unfiltered way.

The role would suit someone who is patient, understanding, and not easily offended, with a good sense of humour and a calm, grounded approach.

Working environment:

The resident is a smoker who smokes inside the property. Applicants should be comfortable working in this environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Shift Pattern:

Hours are as above and flexible to be agreed with employer. Further information can be provided at interview.
