Job description

We are looking for a kind, friendly and dependable Personal Assistant to support a 55-year-old gentleman to live his life as fully and independently as possible. This is a truly rewarding opportunity for someone who values companionship just as much as practical support, and who understands that the most important part of this role is being a trusted, reassuring presence.

He has limited mobility and walks with sticks, but he is also a fall risk and cannot travel far without needing to rest. When out in the community, you will keep his wheelchair and any additional equipment on standby, ready if needed, ensuring his safety and comfort at all times. Your attentiveness and calm approach will help him feel confident when attending appointments, visiting the cinema or theatre, or simply getting out and about.

At home, you will provide general assistance with day-to-day tasks and offer practical support with accessing the community. He may be moving in the near future, so support with packing and the moving process will also be required. Flexibility and a willingness to lend a hand wherever needed will be essential.

He enjoys board games and would love a PA who shares that interest and is happy to join in. This role is about more than completing tasks - it is about engaging in meaningful activities together, sharing conversations, and building a genuine connection.

He has anxiety, so we are seeking someone patient and emotionally aware who can offer reassurance and steady support when needed. Promoting his mental and emotional wellbeing is just as important as assisting with his physical needs.

Above all, we are looking for someone who can be both a reliable support and a friendly companion.

If you are compassionate, safety-conscious, and ready to make a positive difference in someone's everyday life, we would love to hear from you.

Duties include:
  • Moving and handling
  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Creative
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
  • Driving license desirable, but not necessary as he typically uses taxi services when going out and about
Notes:

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
