Personal Assistant - Ministry of Defence (MOD) - Andover (Marlborough Lines)

Hourly Rate: £14.19 | Full-time, Temporary | Hybrid Working | Travel Opportunities

Brook Street is thrilled to present a fantastic opportunity to work for the Ministry of Defence. A full-time, temporary position as Personal Assistant (PA) has become available at Marlborough Lines, Andover, supporting senior staff. This role is ideal for someone looking to provide high-level administrative support while building their organisational skills within a dynamic and vital government department.

Main Purpose Of The Job

The Personal Assistant will deliver professional and efficient administrative support to senior staff, helping to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and enabling the effective delivery of wider strategic goals. This key role requires excellent organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate confidently and clearly.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage diaries, scheduling meetings and appointments to ensure optimal time management.
  • Carry out administrative tasks including managing correspondence, preparing documents, and maintaining records using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Coordinate meetings and events across multiple locations, including RAF Wyton (Cambridgeshire) and DMS Whittington (Staffordshire), liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as a point of contact on behalf of senior staff, handling inquiries and communications with professionalism.
  • Arrange logistics for meetings and events, including room bookings, materials, and travel arrangements.
  • Occasionally travel to other MOD sites as required - travel and accommodation will be covered when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and secure documentation, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Support day-to-day operational continuity, including during staff absences.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, And Experience

  • Ability to work collaboratively within both small teams and wider MOD environments.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently when required.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills, And Experience

  • Knowledge of the UK Armed Forces and Defence operations.
  • Experience supporting senior management or working in a government setting.
  • Experience organising events or coordinating logistics.

Job Details

  • Hourly Rate: £14.19 per hour
  • Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:30
  • Location: Marlborough Lines, Amport House, Andover, SP11 8BG
  • Working Arrangement: Hybrid - minimum 60% on-site attendance. Full on-site attendance required during training.
  • Travel: Occasional travel to RAF Wyton (PE28 2EF) and DMS Whittington (WS14 9PY). Travel and accommodation provided when required.
  • Temporary contract: Current end date 30/10/25, with possibility of extension
