Dorset Council is seeking a dedicated Personal Adviser to support Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children. This is an exciting opportunity at Dorset Council as we invest in strengthening our support for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children. We have established a new team of Social Workers and Personal Advisers, and we are seeking a dedicated individual to join us as a Personal Adviser. This full-time position involves a fixed-term contract of 18 months, working 37 hours per week.
As a Personal Adviser, you will support young people aged 16 to 25 navigating the asylum process, fulfilling statutory responsibilities under the Leaving Care Act 2000. Your role will include providing advice, guidance, and working collaboratively with partners to develop tailored pathway plans that reflect each young person's strengths, aspirations, and needs. You will engage with young people in various settings, including their homes, communities, and council offices, with options for some remote work. The role may require travel across the UK, including liaison with solicitors and the Home Office.
