Job description

About the Practice: This purpose-built hospital features eight consulting rooms, including two dedicated cat consultation rooms and a separate euthanasia suite for privacy and comfort during difficult moments. The practice is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including:

  • In-house laboratory with advanced diagnostic tools
  • My Lab X7 ultrasound machine with a 21" LED screen
  • CT scanner (16-slice GE system) with specialist interpretation via Vet CT
  • Chemotherapy services, including COP and CHOP protocols for lymphoma
  • With a strong emphasis on pain management, all dental extractions including nerve blocks, and local anaesthetic techniques are encouraged. Training and support are available for vets wishing to expand their skills in these areas.

The Role: This role offers an excellent opportunity for a veterinary surgeon seeking to work in a supportive, well-equipped hospital with a strong focus on patient care and professional development.

Hours: This is a full-time (part-time positions considered)

Shifts: Working a 4-day week with an average of 38.5 hours per week. Includes one night on call for inpatients only and a 1 in 6 weekend rotation.

Candidate:

  • A well-established RCVS-accredited hospital in Worksop is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join its experienced and supportive team. The role involves a balanced mix of consulting, surgical, and inpatient care shifts. The hospital prioritizes first-opinion work while ensuring the highest standard of care for its patients.
  • With a team of skilled Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) providing overnight care, the on-call requirements are minimal, with call-outs being exceptionally rare. Case continuity is strongly encouraged, and mentorship is available to support all levels of experience.
  • This opportunity is open to both newly qualified and experienced vets. The team includes advanced practitioners in diagnostic imaging, medicine, and oral and dental surgery, ensuring ongoing learning and professional development. A visiting specialist orthopaedic surgeon supports complex cases, and the practice has recently invested in laparoscopic equipment, with training opportunities available.

Salary: They are offering a competitive salary of up to £57,000 per annum - reflective of skills and experience.
