Job description

Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Melton Mowbray

Type: Small Animal

Practice Type: Proudly Independent Practice - They appreciate the relationship that they have grown with their clients and that mutual trust and respect are the reason their client base is so lovely, and consulting is fun.

Team: They have a lovely team and a lovely atmosphere to work in, this is through the whole team and is something they feel passionately about. None of us are egomaniacs; they encourage discussion between vets and nurses about our cases, and they are all teammates working towards the goal of fixing the patient.

Facilities: They are fortunate to have had an opportunity to design and build their facilities including:

  • A cat-friendly waiting area
  • Separate dog and cat wards with comfortable hospitalisation facilities
  • A spacious prep area leading to a dedicated operating theatre
  • A modern diagnostic suite with digital radiography and ultrasound
  • Facilities to isolate your pet should they be seriously ill

The Role: They are seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and supportive team.

Duties:

  • Manage a routine ops list independently and operate on common OOH emergencies.
  • Work up medical cases confidently whilst understanding client expectations and finances.
  • Be part of a community, being valued by your clients and your colleagues, and providing your own out-of-hours care.
  • Be part of a fun team that supports you and helps you grow and learn.
  • Develop relationships with your clients and have the time to communicate with them.
  • Take on a role with more responsibility such as staff management.

Hours: This is a full-time role, and the exact rota will be discussed in the interview.

OOHs: They do their own on-call and feel it is important to be there for clients when they need it. Their clients are very understanding that we need a life and a break, so the out-of-hours isn’t by any means onerous. You will always have an RVN on call with you and one of the partners at the end of the phone or in with you if you need assistance.

Candidate: They are ultimately looking for someone who shares their values and enjoys being a vet.

In return for being a valued member of a great team they offer:

  • A competitive salary depending on experience.
  • Health insurance or gym membership.
  • Discounted pet care package.
