Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Henley-on-Thames

  • With excellent transport links, London is just 30 minutes away via the new Elizabeth Line, while Heathrow Airport is easily accessible for further travel.

About the Practice:

  • This is a well-established, medium-sized, independent small animal practice located in Henley-on-Thames. With a rich history spanning over 40 years, the practice prides itself on providing exceptional first-opinion veterinary care to a loyal client base.
  • The main surgery in Henley boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including six consulting rooms, two theatres, a dental suite, separate dog and cat wards, and isolation facilities.
  • The practice is equipped with cutting-edge technology such as an ultrasound machine for advanced cardiac and abdominal imaging, an endoscope, a laser machine, and diathermy.
  • The busy in-house lab processes over 50 samples daily, ensuring prompt diagnostics and care.

Role Responsibilities:

  • The Veterinary Surgeon will engage in all aspects of small animal first-opinion practice, with duties divided between consultations, hospital rotations (including inpatient care), and surgery.
  • The practice's supportive environment ensures that vets at all levels of experience can thrive, with an experienced team of vets, nurses, and support staff always on hand to collaborate on cases and provide guidance.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time or part-time opportunities are available.
  • The out-of-hours rota ensures a balanced workload, with only one night shift per week and a weekend commitment every four weeks.

Candidate Profile:

  • While experience would be an advantage, applications are welcome from Veterinary Surgeons at all career stages, including recent graduates.
  • The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to contribute to clinical discussions and ward rounds.
  • Proactive and conscientious, with a passion for delivering outstanding veterinary care to patients and clients.
  • A team player who communicates effectively and works collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Keen to develop professionally, with special interests or certifications supported and encouraged.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: £35,000-£70,000 FTE per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience).
