Job summary

Borders General Hospital in Melrose is seeking a Staff Nurse (Band 5) to join Ward 9 Planned Care on a permanent 34.5 hour contract. The ward covers orthopaedic trauma and elective surgery and requires a UK NMC registered nurse with strong communication and organisational skills to thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment.

You will work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care, support the Senior Charge Nurse, and mentor healthcare support workers.

Qualifications

• UK NMC registration is essential.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential in a busy environment.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to work with MDT and support staff.
• Flexibility and reliability are required for a ward-based role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the work of Health Care Support Workers on Ward 9.
• Support the Senior Charge Nurse and Charge Nurse in day-to-day ward management.
• Provide patient-focused care and ensure safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver care.
