Overview

SERT is hiring a permanent Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Technician to join a leading data centre team in Reading. This role is ideal for experienced FM technicians seeking a stable career in facilities maintenance, working 24/7 to support mission-critical systems in a modern data centre environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, including power, cooling, UPS, and BMS equipment.
  2. Ensure 24/7 data centre uptime by supporting critical infrastructure with high standards of reliability.
  3. Coordinate maintenance and repairs with technical teams, contractors, and site managers.
  4. Log maintenance activities and ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
Requirements
  • Proven M&E background, preferably in data centre or critical environment maintenance.
  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 certification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and mechanical systems, with a focus on reliability and high standards.
  • Experience with BMS, generators, chillers, or other critical infrastructure equipment.
  • Positive attitude, good communication skills, and flexibility to work overtime and on-call shifts.
