Peripatetic Team Manager – Adult Social Care #000A181B1
Family Safeguarding Team Manager (3-month contract)

Help us strengthen safety nets for Wigan’s most vulnerable children and families. We’re adding short-term leadership capacity to our celebrated Front Door service and need an experienced Team Manager who can hit the ground running.

Contract at a glance

Length: 3 months, with review/extension option

Hours: 37 hrs pw, flexible & hybrid working (home / redesigned hub)

Team: 1 Advanced Practitioner + 6 Social Workers on a 5-week duty cycle

Model: Signs of Safety for robust, strengths-based early assessments

Reports to: Service Manager

What you’ll be doing

Lead the team through duty weeks, ensuring timely Children & Family Assessments and safe triage/sign-posting.

Drive performance and reflective practice; champion Ofsted-rated “Good” standards.

Model Wigan’s Be Positive, Accountable, Courageous & Kind culture and inspire colleagues across the Front Door.

What you’ll bring

Proven management of CIN, CP and court-work caseloads.

Track record of leading high-performing duty or safeguarding teams.

Deep knowledge of the statutory framework and Signs of Safety practice.

Energy to mentor practitioners while keeping children and families front-and-centre.
