Peripatetic Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £95 - £110 Per Day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about supporting young people with complex educational needs across multiple school settings?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Peripatetic Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to work across schools in and around Chesterfield, providing targeted support to pupils with SEN including ASD, ADHD, ODD, and SEMH.

This is a peripatetic role, requiring flexibility and travel between schools in the local area. The successful candidate will work alongside school staff to deliver tailored support to students with special educational needs. You will play a vital part in promoting inclusion, independence, and positive behaviour in diverse learning environments.

What you have to do as a Peripatetic Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant:

  • Support pupils in various school settings, either one-to-one or in small groups
  • Deliver targeted interventions and learning support tailored to individual needs
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and SENCOs to adapt classroom resources
  • Promote positive behaviour, social development, and engagement in learning
  • Assist in monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate support records
  • Provide emotional regulation support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural challenges
  • Travel independently between schools and support as needed across the trust or local authority area

Peripatetic Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in school environments as a Peripatetic Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant, ideally within SEN or inclusion teams
  • Must be a driver with access to a vehicle and business insurance (essential)
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, ODD, and SEMH needs
  • A calm, resilient, and flexible approach to working across varied school settings
  • This role is based on Mileage Paid
  • CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Childcare or Teaching Assistant, or equivalent qualifications preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple professionals and adjust to new routines quickly
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
