Perinatal Nursery Nurse

The post holder will work as part of a Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service to ensure that women with severe or complex mental health conditions who are planning pregnancy, pregnant or have a child under one, receive high quality, evidence based specialist advice, assessment and interventions.

To ensure the provision of specialist advice, consultation, liaison and education to professionals who work with women contemplating pregnancy and during the perinatal period.

Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. Main duties of the job

Provide perinatal support to antenatal and post-natal mothers in the community, promoting and modelling a high standard of care at all times within the birth to five framework.

Provide antenatal preparation including, practical and emotional support to help mums prepare the transition into parenthood. Supporting partners, siblings and wider family. Enhancing the attachment and bonding process through pregnancy using current research. Help supporting families to understand baby's perspective. Provide interventions such as baby massage, talking, playing and interacting with baby, video interactive Guidance.

Support with practical Baby Care. Provide support with Best practice in Baby care. Encouraging social networks. Liaise with other professionals on matters related to safeguarding issues. Maintaining timely and accurate records in line with Trust Policy. Provide information to conferences or court hearing as required and to give information relating to the specific cases. These will be within the context of the Children Act 1989 and local Child Protection procedures.

  • Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education (Formerly NNEB/Diploma in Nursery Nursing)
  • NVQ level 3 in Early Years Care & Education
Experience
