Job overview

I am Laura, a Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Nurse with the North Perinatal Mental Health Team. We support women with severe or complex mental health conditions who are planning pregnancy, pregnant or have a child under one. We provide high quality, evidence-based specialist advice, assessment, and interventions.

I joined the team in 2017 after working as a CPN in Adult Mental Health Teams. My interest in perinatal mental health developed from working with women with perinatal mental health needs and being part of developing local services within CPFT. I am passionate about working within this field because of its unique challenges and the impact on women, their babies, and families.

If successful, you will work with me in our North Hub, which operates across Peterborough, Huntingdon, and Wisbech. With recent investment from NHSE to expand the service, this is an exciting opportunity to join us.

Main duties of the job

If appointed, you will work with mothers, their infants, and families at risk of or experiencing severe and complex perinatal mental health conditions. You will manage a caseload as a care coordinator, collaborating with the wider team, including nursery nurses, occupational therapists, and psychologists. We prefer to see our clients in their home environment to support their needs. Your responsibilities include developing care plans, liaising with family members and carers, providing psychoeducation, and linking with third-sector agencies.

Working for our organisation

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is committed to high-quality, compassionate care to improve health and wellbeing. Our services span inpatient, community, children’s, adult, and older people's mental health, as well as forensic, learning disabilities, primary care, and research.

We encourage applications from all community sectors, especially underrepresented groups including those with long-term conditions, ethnic minorities, and LGBTQ+ communities.

Please note we may close the advert early if sufficient applications are received. We cannot offer sponsorship for all roles; applications from candidates requiring sponsorship may be rejected.
