An exciting opportunity has arisen for progressive and innovative Mental Health Nurse’s (RMN) to join the Perinatal Mental Health Team within NHS Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. This is a Fife Wide Service and the successful post holders will initially be employed on a Fixed Term Contract until the end of September 2025, with further funding to be agreed.
The Perinatal Mental Health Nurse will focus on the prevention, detection, early intervention care and treatment of new or pre-existing mental illness occurring in women during pregnancy or in the first postnatal year. In addition they will provide pre-conception advice for women at high risk of severe postpartum mental illness. Providing assessment and facilitation of the mother-infant relationship and promoting infant development in the context of maternal mental illness. Acting as a Mental Health Liaison Nurse to the Wider Maternity service you will be committed to partnership working and will establish strong working relationships.
The role will require you to respond to an ever changing and demanding working environment. You will be responsible for delivering safe effective, patient-focused care to women experiencing mental health difficulties during the perinatal period, across a wide spectrum of mental health diagnosis and complexity. This will require you to exercise initiative and autonomy to anticipate and respond to the unpredictability of referrals and the complex demands they present. You will also have the opportunity to provide learning for Peers, Student Nurses and Medical Students, in both General and Mental Health placements and other Health Care Professionals.
Applications for this post are invited from experienced RMN’s able to demonstrate enhanced skills, knowledge and experience of working with patients presenting with a range of mental health problems. You should have significant Band 5 experience preferably in a community and/or a Perinatal setting.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate experience of Team Working, a problem solving/flexible approach, excellent communication skills and continuing professional development. A commitment to partnership working with a range of stakeholders is also essential.
You will receive a comprehensive induction to the service with an identified mentor who will provide clinical/caseload supervision and will support your educational development
The service currently operates within office hours Monday – Friday
