Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Performing Arts Technician & Theatre Manager to join the team on a term time only basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £26,891 - £28,719 per annum, pro rata.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role:

As the Performing Arts Technician & Theatre Manager, you will undertake a range of technical duties in support of the academic function and the community activities.

Responsibilities as our Performing Arts Technician & Theatre Manager will include:

  • Control the diary of events for theatre bookings
  • Liaising with the Estates Office, re external bookings of the Theatre and other Performing Arts spaces.
  • Being responsible for supervising the Stage Crew for all shows.
  • Overseeing the construction of any set required for student theatre performances.
  • Assisting teaching staff to keep all areas of the Performing Arts accommodation in a clean, tidy and well organised state, with particular attention to Health and Safety.
  • Carrying out periodic stock and inventory checks and updating as required for audit purposes. Organising gels/costumes/set materials bulbs etc.
  • Placing orders for replacement and new items in consultation with the Curriculum Leader.
  • Assisting staff and students with the organisation, maintenance and storage of resources, equipment and materials.
  • Issuing equipment, materials and books to students and staff.
  • Undertaking and maintaining records of regular safety checks on equipment, tools and materials used to ensure they comply with Health and Safety Regulations and requirements.
  • Driving the minibus.

As our Performing Arts Technician & Theatre Manager, you’ll ideally have:

  • Level 3 or NVQ in any stage craft or theatre management qualification or relevant experience.
  • Experience managing an arts centre or theatre
  • Experience running a theatre timetable
  • Knowledge of sound and lighting for the theatre
  • Knowledge of CAD/sketchup knowledge and application
  • Well organised, methodical, energetic, able to meet deadlines
  • A commitment to the Performing Arts
