Job description

Academics are currently seeking Performing Arts & Drama Instructors for various opportunities within our client secondary schools in Staffordshire & Cheshire starting September 2025.

Instructors can be employed in secondary schools to provide cover for classes when teachers are unavailable. They possess a subject specialism and are employed on a flexible, day-to-day basis to allow teachers time away from the classroom for planning, assessment, training, or due to absences such as sickness.

The benefits of working as a Performing Arts/Drama Instructor include:

  1. Supporting a wide range of subjects across the curriculum alongside your specialism.
  2. Collaborating with successful practising teachers to enhance your educational knowledge.
  3. Enjoying flexible working hours—work 3 days one week, 5 days the next? No problem.
  4. Potential pathways to long-term and permanent roles within our schools.

As an Academics Performing Arts/Drama Secondary Instructor, you will:

  • Hold a Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) qualification with a Performing Arts/Drama specialism. QTLS is desirable but not essential.
  • Or hold a minimum Level 6 Qualification (e.g., Bachelor’s Degree, Graduate Certificate, BTEC Advanced Diploma, Degree Apprenticeship) with a Performing Arts/Drama specialism.
  • Be familiar with the National Curriculum and Performing Arts programmes of study.
  • Demonstrate good classroom presence and excellent behaviour management skills.
  • Maintain a positive, proactive attitude suitable for busy school environments.
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one (cost applies).
