Job summary

South Western Railway (SWR) in London area seeks a technically skilled professional to support Wimbledon Traincare Depot with safety, quality and performance oversight. You will adhere to depot procedures, carry out audits, investigate safety issues and assist maintenance teams across the Fleet Engineering function.

With an electrical/mechanical engineering background and at least three years in a rolling stock depot, you will analyse fault data, prepare reports and mentor apprentices while

Qualifications

• Electrical/mechanical engineering qualification essential.
• At least three years experience in a rolling stock depot.
• Report writing, numeric and IT skills essential.
• Understanding of rolling stock safety legislation and quality procedures desirable.
• Thorough knowledge of engineering drawings and electrical/pneumatic diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Work to depot quality systems and fleet engineering instructions.
• Carry out train related audits and formulate action plans.
• Investigate safety critical incidents and compile formal reports with improvement recommendations.
• Analyse downloads to support fault finding.
• Support maintenance staff to undertake their duties.
• Mentor apprentices and contractors as required.
• Provide depot modifications or campaign change support to Fleet Engineering.
• Produce technical briefs and work instructions for train related activities.
• Investigate train failures to support performance and PPM growth.
