Sheffield United Football Club are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Performance Psychologist to lead the psychological support provision across Women's Football. This is a key role within the Club's Women's programme, focused on delivering a progressive and impactful performance psychology strategy that supports both individual player development and collective team performance.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of applied sport psychology in elite or high-performance environments, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams. You will be central to psychological profiling, the delivery of individual and group interventions, and the integration of mental performance strategies into training, match preparation, and wider player care processes.
Your Responsibilities will be:
-Lead on the development and delivery of Performance Psychology provision across Women's Football.
-Work with the Head of Women's Football, and wider multidisciplinary team to develop and implement a Performance Psychology strategy,
-Provide psychological profiling of Women's First Team Players, contributing towards their individual development plan.
-Deliver and evaluate individual psychological support interventions, when required, and within the limitations of expertise, referring to specialists when required.
-Work in collaboration with the First Team technical team, advising on on-pitch strategies, as well as match day processes and support.
-Positively contribute towards the multidisciplinary team processes and meetings, as well as the holistic Player support mechanisms, liaising with Player Care and Safeguarding.
Work with the Club's Medical and Sports Science department to assist with the delivery of the departmental strategy.
-Provide support to the Club's Women's Academy as and when required.
Maintain comprehensive records and databases of work conducted with Players.

Essential Criteria for the Role:
-Have adequate professional liability insurance to work with/advice WSL/WSL2 Players.
-Hold a UK HCPC Professional Registration or Equivalent, or working towards a HCPC registration.
-Appropriate First Aid Qualification
-Certified Mental Health First Aid
-Appropriate Safeguarding Qualification
-Experience of working in a high performing/ professional sports environment
-Experience of integrated psychological strategies into coaching practices and team environments
-A strong motivator, with high enthusiasm
-Student of the professional, looking to improve and develop
-Completion of Enhanced DBS upon offer acceptance
