Job Description:

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

At Scottish Water, we look after Scotland’s most precious natural resource, ensuring pure water from source to tap while caring for the environment.

We are seeking 2 Analysts to join our Portfolio Management Performance & Insights team, either in the Performance or Reporting team.

What you’ll do

You will provide visibility of the Capital Programme, measuring delivery against targets for time, cost, and carbon intensity. You will produce reports and support stakeholders, including Project Managers, Directors, and Scottish Water directorates.

If in the Performance Team, your focus will be on data visualisation, creating Power BI reports for presentations. You will spend significant time using Power BI and Excel, sharing a passion for tools like VLOOKUPs and pivot tables. Progression involves greater participation in meetings and performance discussions.

If in the Reporting Team, your role will be more technical, requiring knowledge of databases, Power BI, SQL, and/or DAX. Knowledge of other programming languages is beneficial.

All roles may involve regulatory and external work, producing board reports and liaising with WICS, requiring attention to detail and accuracy.

What you’ll need

Effective communication skills in visual, verbal, and written forms are essential. You should be able to simplify complex analysis, add value to reports, and bring innovative ideas.

Strong root cause analysis skills, enthusiasm for data improvement projects, and a proactive approach to technology are important.

Good time management and prioritisation skills are necessary, along with proficiency in MS Office applications, especially PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Power BI.

Looking out for you

We promote work-life balance with 38 days of holiday (plus options to buy more), flexible working, and family-friendly policies. Benefits include a pension, life assurance, annual bonus, and rewards through SW Splash.

The not-so-small print

This role is Grade 6, with a starting salary of £33,560, progressing to £44,140. In November 2024, the workweek reduces to 35 hours to support wellbeing. The role is mainly remote, with possible office travel.

Application deadline is midnight on 14th October, with interviews scheduled for the week of 21st October. Offers are conditional on pre-employment screening, which is conducted after acceptance.

A few final things worth knowing…

If you don’t meet all criteria, apply anyway—learning occurs on the job. We welcome applicants with disabilities or neurodiverse conditions and are happy to make adjustments. Candidates must be Scottish taxpayers and reside in Scotland within three months of joining. Data of applicants inactive for over a year will be deleted automatically.
