Job Description:

The Performance Engineer directly contributes to the performance of our race cars by working closely with race engineers, engineering staff, and crew chiefs. The role involves working independently to identify, test, analyze, validate, and communicate areas of improvement. Using data, research, and resources, the engineer will develop and optimize configurations to enhance race car performance. The ideal candidate will be organized, self-motivated, able to work under pressure, and possess strong communication skills. Performance Engineers are encouraged to challenge norms and share ideas to foster a collaborative environment.

This position requires occasional travel during weekdays and weekends for testing and race events. During race weekends, support will be provided remotely from our Mooresville, NC shop.

  • Assist in setup development for each race event
  • Support simulation & analysis of NexGen setup parameters
  • Conduct Driver In Loop (DIL) testing & analysis
  • Perform on-track testing, data analysis, and performance reporting
  • Collaborate to develop and refine engineering tools
  • Provide live race support by monitoring timing, scoring, and performance trends, and communicate insights to race teams
  • Maintain engineering reports and performance documentation
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or related Engineering discipline
  • At least 3 years of motorsports experience
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, high-performance physics, and engineering mathematics
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with accuracy
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and data analysis software (MoTeC/PiToolbox/Atlas)
  • Familiarity with NASCAR Next Gen platforms, regulations, and procedures is advantageous
