Performance Analyst & Data Scientist

We are currently seeking to appoint a Performance Analyst & Data Scientist to maintain innovative and integrated performance analysis services for Cricket Victoria's state teams, as well as the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades WBBL and BBL teams.

Key Responsibilities include:

1. Provide performance analysis across Cricket Victoria's elite teams.
2. Provide individual player analysis for Cricket Victoria's elite teams, Melbourne Stars, and Melbourne Renegades throughout the season, as requested by coaches.
3. Facilitate ongoing education of players and coaches, supporting them in understanding and optimizing performance analysis outcomes.
4. Engage with relevant SSSM program support staff to provide information and support to enhance player preparation.
5. Coordinate, implement, and develop cricket-specific performance analysis technology.
6. Maintain the Fairplay database, including updating player information and match footage.
7. Utilize match day statistics to update databases and AMS.
8. Provide training, education, and support for coaching staff to optimize the use of systems like Fairplay.
9. Collaborate with coaching staff to provide analysis that informs team strategy and match preparation.
10. Prepare and present player performance information to support team selection.

About You

The successful candidate will work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will possess strong communication skills to present complex data clearly to stakeholders, including coaches and athletes. A passion for sport and an understanding of cricket are essential, along with a genuine desire to help teams reach their full potential.

Minimum Criteria:

• At least two years of relevant experience in Data Science or Performance Analysis working with elite athletes or teams.
• ESSA Registration.
• Experience with applied research in Performance Analysis or Data Science.
• Proficiency with computer-based systems for statistical modeling, predictive analytics, or machine learning (e.g., Python, R, C++, SPSS, Power BI).
• Current Victorian Working with Children Check.
