Job description

The Performance team generates insights on the force's performance by building Qlik dashboards, analysing force data and providing information to support the force's governance and assurance processes.

The post-holder will use various analytical techniques to assess and interpret organisational and operational data, identifying trends or making recommendations for action. Performance Analysts will collaborate with other analysts in the Corporate Development team, as well as other functions, to ensure a holistic analytical service is provided to the business.

The Performance Analyst will work with Performance Support Officers to provide the Performance Manager with accurate, evidenced information that informs the Force position on its overall service delivery.

Together the team will monitor performance, flag up performance challenges and support business areas to produce materials required to inform governance discussions in order to improve performance or share good practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop reports, dashboards and storyboards using a range of tools.
  • Use analytical skills to provide comprehensive analysis solutions identifying trends, opportunities and challenges and using analysis and research to provide a range of recommendations.
  • Collate and record performance indicators and statistical data and prepare relevant timely management information.
  • Maintain regular performance reports and be verbally able to communicate and/or present findings to stakeholders.
  • Working with a team to develop and maintain good understanding of the business.
  • Engaging with other police forces and professional bodies to enable benchmarking and development of best practice in data reporting.
  • Work with business units and Performance Manager(s) to create presentations for key strategic meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with other analysts in the Corporate Development team, as well as other functions, to ensure a holistic analytical service is provided to the business.
  • Answer Freedom of information requests.
Knowledge and Experience

Essential:
  • Experience of working in a performance team, analysing data and creating insights.
  • Experience of undertaking research and benchmarking to create analysis and recommendations to support and influence both strategic and tactical decisions.
  • Experience of working to tight timescales.
Desirable:
  • Experience of working with Qliksense.
  • Knowledge of SQL coding.
Skills

Essential:
  • Using Microsoft Excel and/or other data tools to an advanced level.
  • Can demonstrate data manipulation and interpretation with large, complex datasets.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to Identify trends and key themes from all relevant data sources, conduct root-cause analysis to identify issues, flagging these up in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work and respond within challenging timeframes, adopting a flexible and positive approach to ensure outcomes are effectively delivered.
  • IT literate and confident.
  • Able to manage and prioritise their own workload.
  • Be able to demonstrate effective presentation skills.
Desirable:
  • Able to work without direct supervision and will be required to make decisions using own initiative.
  • Able to extract statistical data from records for monitoring purposes.
Hours

This role is full time and therefore subject to standard contractual hours (36.5 a week) but flexible working arrangements will be considered and accommodated wherever possible. Start time is between 07:00-09:00 and finish time 15:00-18:00 depending on the time you start.

The post holder will be expected to work in an agile manner (a minimum of 60% in Lloyd House) in accordance with the demands of the role. Lloyd House operates a hot desk policy.

Vetting

Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical

Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successful medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
