A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our People Team as a People Assistant on a 12 month FTC basis!

37.5 hours per week, based out of our Nursery Support Centre in Denton, Manchester, with a competitive annual salary

We need a team of dedicated People Assistants to manage our day-to-day People operations and ensure a great employee experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of our shared service team, you’ll be the first point of contact for our Nursery and Support Centre staff across the UK. You’ll handle queries that come in via phone or email, responding within the required timeframe. These queries will cover all aspects of the employee experience, from onboarding to exit, and everything in between.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Produce offer letters, contracts of employment, and contract changes, including absence/maternity/paternity letters, and file them accordingly.
  • Act as the first point of contact for 1st line people and culture-related queries, providing quality and timely information on procedures and policies.
  • Deliver the employee exit and offboarding process.
  • Ensure all paper scanning is carried out in a timely manner and stored correctly in accordance with GDPR legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with onboarding requirements and maintain up-to-date job descriptions for all roles.
  • Complete monthly MI reporting stats on all key people and culture activities, sharing best practice improvement ideas as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity, and other relevant employment legislation.
  • Participate in ad-hoc people & culture-related projects.

How You’ll Succeed – What Does Success Look Like?

Success in this role means maintaining required service level timescales for People administration, ensuring successful onboarding and offboarding processes, supporting stakeholders with people-related interactions, and ensuring compliance with Single Central Records and GDPR regulations.

What It Takes – Professional Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes Required:

  • Quantifiable administration experience, preferably in a shared services environment.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and willing to take on various tasks to meet business needs.
  • Experience with safeguarding requirements in a nursery environment.
  • Experience with end-to-end recruiting, onboarding, and compliance processes.
  • Awareness of UK employment legislation.
  • Experience in a high-volume, customer-focused environment, with the ability to advise, guide, and influence.
  • Strong time management and workload management skills, able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Passionate about treating people fairly and respectfully, in line with our organisational culture and values.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and written materials.
  • A customer service mindset with a strategic focus on building and maintaining exceptional relationships.
