People Services Team Leader


Location: Lewes
This position is offered on a hybrid basis with a minimum 3 days per week in our Lewes office
Salary: £37,680 per year
Hours: 37 per week
Monday – Thursday 9am to 5pm, Fridays – 9am to 4.30pm


What you’ll be doing:
Southdown is the largest not-for-profit provider of care, support, and housing in Sussex. We’ve been helping people access stable accommodation, mental health and care services since 1972, now counting over 900 people as part of our team.

Are you passionate about HR operations? As a People Services Team Leader you will manage a team of People Services Administrators and a People Services Coordinator. This team manages all of our People administration, including recruitment and onboarding, absence management, training, employee relations and offboarding. With a new HRIS and HR ticketing system on the horizon, now is an exciting time to join Southdown and help us shape our People Services and continually improve our operational efficiency.

We welcome applications from those with experience in roles such as Human Resources Operations Lead, HR Operations Manager, Recruitment Administrator, Onboarding Administrator, Recruitment and Onboarding Team Lead, HR Generalist, HR administrator, People Operations Manager, HR Business Partner or HR Coordinator.

Knowledge, skills and experience

What you’ll need for the role:
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, GDPR and HR compliance standards
  • Experience delivering and improving core HR services across the employee lifecycle (onboarding, benefits, records management, absence management, compliance)
  • Experienced in HR systems including ticketing / case management, HRIS, ATS and LMS
What would be nice:
  • Previous experience managing a HR / People Services team is strongly preferred
  • Experience in change management and transformation initiatives
  • CIPD level 5 (or working towards)
