People Services (HR) Advisor

Job Details: Job Title: People Services (HR) Advisor, Department: People Services (HR), Campus: Principally Havant campus, with travel to other campuses as required, Salary: Grade 4, Point 17 - £30,542.55, Contract Type: Permanent

HSDC is seeking a proactive and collaborative People Services (HR) Advisor to join our People Services team. This role is ideal for someone looking to progress into a generalist HR or Business Partner role. You will provide practical advice, guidance, and support to managers on day-to-day HR matters, including less complex employee relations cases, policy interpretation, and employee lifecycle activities.

You will work closely with managers across designated business areas to ensure HR processes are applied consistently, supporting engagement, wellbeing, and performance. The role offers exposure to a wide range of HR activity, providing a strong foundation in generalist HR practice while developing the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to progress to a Business Partner position.

The role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, though we are open to considering part-time working across four days per week. The role will be principally based at our Havant campus, with travel as required to our other campuses, and offers flexibility to work from home one day per week.

Responsibilities
  • Resolve day-to-day employee and people issues, providing clear guidance and support to managers and staff.
  • Advise on and ensure consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
  • Support managers with recruitment, onboarding, performance management, absence, and development processes.
  • Monitor emerging HR issues, proactively identifying trends and escalating complex matters to HR Business Partners.
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives that enhance the employee experience and organisational effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and generate routine reports to inform HR decision-making.
  • Develop your HR expertise through exposure to generalist HR activities, preparing for progression to a Business Partner role.
Requirements
  • CIPD Level 3 qualified, or working towards Level 5, or willingness to work towards Level 5.
  • Experience supporting HR activity across one or more areas of the employee lifecycle.
  • Understanding of HR policies, employment law, and procedures, with an ability to provide accurate guidance to managers.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and work collaboratively.
  • A proactive and values-driven approach, with a willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility in HR practice.
