Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing People Services team delivering ER and administration services.
  • Provide expert leadership on complex and high-risk ER matters with risk and legal considerations.
  • Build relationships with leaders to understand operational challenges and priorities.
  • Champion a coaching-led approach to people management and capability-building.
  • Act as the organisation's senior ER expert, applying employment law knowledge with commercial judgement.
  • Use data, trends and insights to drive proactive interventions and improvements.
  • Lead development and transformation of People Services for efficiency and scalability.
  • Drive innovation and automation, including AI, to enhance service delivery.
  • Partner with representative groups and stakeholders to deliver change collaboratively.
  • Shape the future direction of People Services to align with organisational objectives.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and develop a high-performing People Services team, bringing together Employee Relations and People Administration into a seamless, customer-focused service that delivers consistent, high-quality support to colleagues and managers across the organisation.You'llcreate a culture of accountability, continuouslearningand service excellence, ensuring the team is recognised as a trusted and credible partner.
  • Provide expert leadership on complex and high-risk employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, organisational change, restructures, senior leader cases and matters with significant legal,financialor reputational risk.You'llensure robust,fairand legally compliant outcomes while balancing commercial and organisational priorities.
  • Build strong, influential relationships with leaders and stakeholders across the business, developing a deep understanding of operational challenges, workforcetrendsand organisational priorities.You'lluse this insight toprovideproactive advice,identifyrisks and opportunities early, and deliver people solutions that support business performance and colleague experience.
  • Champion a coaching-led approach to people management, empowering managers to confidently navigate sensitive and complex people matters.You'lldevelop capability, challenge constructively whererequiredand foster a culture where managers take ownership of people decisions, supported by expert guidance and coaching.
  • Act as the organisation's senior Employee Relations expert, applying deep employment law knowledge and commercial judgement to minimise risk, supportdecision-making and ensure people practicesremainlegally compliant,pragmaticand aligned to best practice.
  • Use data,trendsand insight to drive proactive interventions and continuous improvement,identifyingrecurring themes, organisationalrisksand opportunities to improve manager capability, colleagueexperienceand service effectiveness.You'lltranslate complex information into meaningful actions and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead the ongoing development and transformation of People Services, reviewing end-to-end HR administration and employee relations processes, simplifying ways of working, removinginefficienciesand creating a more streamlined,responsiveand scalable service that meets the evolving needs of the business.
  • Drive innovation, technologyadoptionand automation, maximising the use of systems, self-servicesolutionsand emerging technologies, including AI, to improve service delivery, reduce manual effort and enhance both colleague and manager experiences.
  • Partner with colleague representative groups and key internal stakeholdersto build positive employee relations, strengthen engagement and ensure that organisational change, policydevelopmentand people initiatives are delivered collaboratively and effectively.
  • Play a key role in shaping the future direction of People Services, ensuring the functionremainscommercially focused, operationally effective and aligned to organisationalobjectiveswhile delivering an outstanding experience for colleagues,managersand leaders alike.
You'llBring
  • Extensive senior-level Employee Relations experience within a large, complex organisation, with a strongtrack recordof managing complex, high-risk and sensitive peoplematters.
  • Expert knowledge of UK employment law, with the ability to provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice and sound judgement in complex situations.
  • Proven experience leading complex investigations, organisational change activity and cases involving senior stakeholders.
  • Strong coaching,influencingand relationship-building skills, with the ability to build manager capability and confidence at all levels.
  • Experience leading,developingand motivating high-performing HR, EmployeeRelationsor People Services teams.
  • A collaborative and credible stakeholder partner, able to build trusted relationships across the business and influence positive outcomes.
  • Experience delivering service improvements, process optimisation and organisational change within HR, PeopleServicesor shared service environments.
  • Data-driven and commercially minded, using insight,trendsand performance measures to inform decisions and improve service delivery.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the confidence to challenge existing approaches, embrace innovation and drive positive change.
