Job summary

Reed in North Devon is seeking a proactive People Lead (Maternity Cover) to provide essential HR support across two educational settings. The role combines recruitment, onboarding, HR administration and employee relations to deliver a positive employee experience.

You will build strong relationships with managers and staff, manage records and reporting, support payroll processes and promote an inclusive workplace culture during the maternity cover period.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
• CIPD Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience within an HR administration role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Competent IT and systems skills.
• Desirable: CIPD Level 5 qualification or experience in an educational environment.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment & Onboarding: Coordinate interviews, support recruitment campaigns, induction processes, and ensure all pre-employment checks are completed.
• HR Administration: Maintain accurate employee records, manage the SCR, support payroll administration, and produce HR reports and compliance information.
• Employee Relations Support: Provide first-line guidance on HR policies and procedures, assist with low-level employee relations matters, and maintain confidential case records.
• Stakeholder Support: Build positive working relationships with staff and managers, act as a trusted point of contact for HR queries, and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
