Job Title: People & Culture Advisor
Reports to: Head of People
Location: London Lant Street or Purfleet Essex
Salary: £40,000
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Working Hours: 9am-5:30pm

The Role:

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive People and Culture Advisor (or a very strong Administrator who is looking to step up) to join our dynamic People team. This role is a great opportunity for an HR professional with strong advisory and administrative skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking to build their experience across the full employee lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will be CIPD Level 5 qualified or currently studying towards it, have a solid grasp of first-line employee relations across both blue- and white-collar workforces, and be confident supporting a diverse range of HR tasks with accuracy and professionalism.

Desirable: The ability to speak Spanish or Portuguese is highly valued to support our multilingual workforce.

Responsibilities:

Employee Relations

  • Provide first-line HR support for disciplinary, grievance, and performance issues, escalating when necessary to Head of People
  • Support line managers with basic ER queries and guide them through initial processes
  • Maintain accurate and confidential ER documentation

HR Administration

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records on BrightHR
  • Input and track sickness, absence, and holiday data (including buying/selling leave and additional entitlement)
  • Run monthly HR reports and provide timely and accurate information to the Head of People
  • Manage and update staff benefit platforms, ensuring accurate starter and leaver data
  • Monitor staff reviews and liaise with line managers to ensure completion
  • Distribute and collate DSE assessments (new starters and annual)
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality when handling employee information
  • Prepare for and support with internal HR audits and compliance checks (e.g., right to work, GDPR, data audits)
  • Monitor probationary periods and send timely reminders to managers for review
  • Provide admin support on HR projects, such as system upgrades, restructuring, performance reviews, or policy rollouts

Onboarding/Leavers

  • Prepare drafts of offer letters and employment contracts
  • Carry out right-to-work checks and obtain employment references
  • Collate and manage onboarding documentation, creating new starter profiles on BrightHR
  • Prepare leavers letters and record data accurately

Training & Development

  • Support with tracking training completion and development needs
  • Assist in recording learning outcomes and maintaining training records

Essential Requirements

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or currently studying towards it)
  • Previous experience in a similar HR advisor or stepping up from an experienced administrative role
  • Confidence in handling first-line employee relations matters (disciplinary, grievance)
  • Experience working with both blue- and white-collar staff groups
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive, self-motivated attitude

Desirable

  • Experience using BrightHR or similar HRIS systems
  • Knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Experience coordinating employee benefits
  • Working knowledge of Power BI
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is highly valued to support our multilingual workforce
