Job description

If you’re looking for a career that will unlock new opportunities, join HSBC and experience the possibilities. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support, and rewards that will take you further.

The newly formed People, Governance and Communication team will consist of colleagues from HR, Corporate Governance and Secretariat, and Communications. Although these will remain distinct specialisms, bringing these teams together will enable joined-up delivery of key activities across the bank.

People leads the implementation of the Group’s people strategy in line with business objectives. We facilitate talent management, succession planning, and employee mobility while defining and overseeing frameworks that support employee performance management, reward, learning and development, resourcing, and engagement.

You will work closely with lead People Consultants, People Business Partners, People Advisors, and specialists, as well as the business directly, helping to deliver change transformation activities. The clients you will be supporting include Global Banking, Markets & Securities Services.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

The role involves:

  1. Managing programme delivery proactively, balancing scope, schedule, interdependencies, budget, and risks.
  2. Being responsible for effective programme controls and procedures within your initiatives.
  3. Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  4. Reporting progress, issues, dependencies, and risks to relevant governance forums, and making recommendations to influence decision-making to maintain progress.
  5. Demonstrating role-model behaviors for the function and business, advocating, and championing the HR delivery model, and driving collaboration between HR teams.

To be successful, you should meet the following requirements:

  1. Experience working in an HR environment or People support role, such as business partnering or relationship management with business leaders.
  2. Experience in project management roles.
  3. Ability to model and embody HSBC behaviors, and deal assertively but sensitively with internal and external customers in a matrix environment.
  4. Strict adherence to confidentiality, with discretion and integrity.
  5. Calmness under pressure and ability to re-prioritize quickly.

This role is based in Leeds, Edinburgh, or London on a hybrid basis.

HSBC values diversity and inclusion, and is committed to creating accessible workplaces. We are a Disability Confident Leader and will offer interviews to candidates with disabilities, long-term conditions, or neurodivergence who meet the role's minimum criteria.
