About the job

To provide pro-active, value added HR support and guidance to line managers within their assigned client areas. Deliver the business aligned People Plan and provide coaching and support to members of the management team on medium term and operational people issues to achieve maximum performance.

Working collaboratively with local management teams to support and coach the line in managing their people issues in a fair and consistent manner.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Working closely and build strong relationships with the supported business, to implement and deliver the HR People Plan to include; ER case management, training & development, talent & succession planning and change management, in order to support the delivery of business objectives and drive a high performance culture.
  • Provide a pro-active, value add HR service to the supported business leaders across the function/area on medium term and operational people issues.
  • Act as HR expert to provide advice and guidance to line managers for all ER cases i.e. disciplines, grievances, AWOL, ill health severance and redeployments. Supporting Line Managers in the fair and consistent application of people policies and procedures.
  • Act as first point of contact for all HR issues impacting the local management teams within their geographical areas. HR issues include recruitment, training, talent and succession, wellbeing and employee relations. Working with HR specialist functions to deliver services and projects to Line Managers.
  • Support the Management teams to develop a climate whereby they accept and are supported appropriately to accept responsibility for people management and embrace best practice in HR initiatives, systems and procedures.
  • Management of employment tribunal cases in liaison with solicitors and the Senior HR Business Partner
  • Responsibility for compliance with HR policies and procedures
  • Responsibility for compliance with the data protection act.

You'll need to be:

  • Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) with a minimum GCSE in Maths and English Grade A-C
  • CIPD qualifiedor equivalent
  • Experienced HR Professional with previous experience at operational level
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to influence at all levels
  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation
  • Ability to engage with and support Line Management teams whilst retaining an impartial professional viewpoint

About the location

Overline House is conveniently situated overlooking Southampton Central Station and is easily accessible by public transport. The station is very local to West Quay, a hub for retailers and restaurants, and providesan excellent link between London, Coastal areas and the Isle of Wight.

Working pattern

Working an average of 37 hours per week over 5 days

Monday - Friday 09.00 - 17.00
