As a People Advisor, you'll provide first-line advisory support to employees and managers across the business, working closely with the People Business Partners to deliver a consistent, professional, and proactive HR service. This role plays a key part in delivering day-to-day operational excellence across the employee lifecycle, enabling the People Team to focus on strategic delivery.

You'll handle a wide variety of employee relations matters, coach line managers on best practices, and contribute to key people projects and process improvements. The role interacts regularly with employees, managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities of the People Advisor include:

  • Provide responsive, accurate advice and guidance to managers and employees on a range of people matters, including policy queries, absence, performance, conduct, and wellbeing.
  • Support and manage low-to-mid-level employee relations cases (e.g., informal and formal absence, probation, performance improvement, disciplinaries, grievances), escalating complex cases as appropriate.
  • Draft investigation reports, outcome letters, and formal documentation in line with policy and employment law.
  • Coach and upskill line managers to build confidence in managing their people effectively.
  • Work closely with People Business Partners to support cyclical processes such as performance reviews, engagement activities, change programmes, and restructures.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in the HRIS and case management tools, ensuring GDPR compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve policies, processes, and employee experience based on feedback, data, and trends.
  • Contribute to wider People initiatives and projects, such as onboarding, learning & development, or DEI activities as required.

The successful People Advisor will have:

  • Solid HR knowledge with experience providing first-line advice and managing ER cases in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law, HR best practice, and the ability to apply this pragmatically.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Confident in managing sensitive conversations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience in an advisory-level HR role.
