Kenton Black Finance are currently recruiting for a Pensions Technical Manager on behalf of a business that has been operating for over 100 years and is a leading international infrastructure group. You would be responsible for technical aspects of the services provided by the pensions centre. In addition to your salary, you will get a yearly bonus of up to 10%, and a car allowance. Furthermore, you will also be able to work on a remote basis, with occasional travel to the office.

Your new role as the Pensions Technical Manager:

  1. Ensure procedures and tools are in place for the Pensions Centre to maintain ongoing compliance with statutory legislation, regulations, company scheme rules and appropriate quality standards, developing new procedures and tools as necessary.
  2. Identify and manage any member communication changes required and maintain an accurate, up-to-date member communications library; help to improve user experience.
  3. Become an expert user of our pensions administration software system:
    1. Understand how the member data is held, how to analyse and report on data and improve quality of data held where possible.
    2. Develop and maintain on-system and off-system calculation specifications and associated testing material.
    3. Work with the system supplier to undertake system upgrades where necessary and maximise new functionality.
  4. Lead on delivery of major change projects, collaborating with all stakeholders as required.
  5. Develop technical training and tools needed by administration team and facilitate/deliver to team.
  6. Identify suggestions for improvement to maintain effective systems and controls, improve business efficiencies, reduce potential complaints and manage business risks. Escalate these to senior management team for consideration and implementation.
  7. Peer review of complex calculations as required, interpreting the rules of the company and other documentation.
  8. Provide corporate pensions support to businesses in relation to other pension schemes and M&A activity.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills required to apply:

  1. Educated to degree standard and with a strong educational background. Ideally a Pensions Qualification (PMI or Actuarial): full or nearly qualified or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 5+ years pensions experience.
  3. In-house or third party pension administration management or pensions consultancy experience.
  4. DB and DC pensions knowledge and experience.
  5. Strong pensions legislative and technical knowledge.
  6. Experience of performing manual calculations, developing and using calculations specifications and dealing with complex queries across all types of scheme events.
  7. Attention to detail with experience of interpreting Scheme Rules, legislative regulations and other legal material.
  8. Strong analytical and data interrogation skills.
  9. High level of commitment to delivery and willingness to meet deadlines whilst not compromising quality.
  10. Ability to effectively prioritise and manage multiple streams of work and lead/manage projects.
  11. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain in a concise and clear way.
  12. Self-motivated and able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  13. Pension systems knowledge and understanding.
  14. Highly proficient in Microsoft packages, notably Excel and Word, and willing to learn how to use other software packages.

Salary and Benefits on offer:
