Role:

Pensions Governance Manager, Trowbridge

Reactive Permanent Recruitment are working with a client within the public sector who are seeking a pro-active, solution focused Pensions Governance Manager to join their dynamic Pension Fund Management team.

Job fairs

The role:

  • Take responsibility for the development, implementation and reviewing of all governance arrangements and objectives for the Pension Fund
  • Act as the key contact with stakeholders on governance matters
  • Support the Head of Pension Fund in managing the Pension Fund Committee and Local Pension Board, including developing agendas, producing, and presenting reports, ensuring appropriate objectives and strategies are in place, monitoring risk management and ensuring audit recommendations are addressed
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Pension Fund to ensure that governance matters are understood and embedded, including policy compliance and implementation of internal audit actions
  • Support the development, maintenance and reporting of all governance processes, ensuring that they are implemented and measured to confirm they are improving organisational effectiveness, efficiency, and customer focussed outcomes
  • Lead on GDPR requirements, ensuring compliance is achieved, with any breaches being accurately recorded and reported per statutory guidelines as well as ensuring change requirements are implemented efficiently
  • Overall responsibility for contract management, overseeing supplier performance and contract extensions and re-tendering as appropriate
  • Other responsibilities will include ensuring that the Fund is operating correctly from an audit perspective and maintain compliance with current regulatory requirements, as well as management of the Fund’s contracts

The person:

  • Essential: Minimum of 5 years’ experience administering a large defined benefit pension scheme
  • Essential: A degree and relevant professional qualification such as (IPPM, PMI, CII) or related discipline (or ability to demonstrate skills at the required level)
  • Essential: Extensive, proven knowledge of LGPS Regulations, Committee management and national LGPS governance standards
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of business planning, procurement and compliance standards, and the development and delivery of training programmes for a diverse audience
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Strong inter-personal skills, communication skills and the ability to motivate colleagues to work pro-actively to collaborate with a focus on supporting change and driving innovation
  • Possess a passion for driving change implementation within a dynamic team
  • Due to the financial nature of the department, the role may be subject to certain successful security checks

The package:

  • Highly competitive basic salary of up to £52,000 pa.
