KPMG is enhancing its Tax and Legal practice by expanding our ability to offer support to our clients in connection to their pensions obligations. Our pensions team works alongside over 2,400 Tax and Legal colleagues, and the new roles we are adding will focus on delivering advice related to pension provision and other pensions issues involving ongoing operations and transactions.

We are seeking talented and experienced Consultants to join our pensions actuarial team. You will deliver high-quality actuarial advice on defined benefit pension schemes in the private sector.

You will work closely with senior team members, providing:

  • Strategic planning and risk management, including options for self-sufficiency or buyout, and surplus use.
  • Funding advice to sponsors and compliance guidance with DB funding code.
  • Pension due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Member education and communication.
  • Advice on benefit design, changes, and implementation.
  • Good governance and compliance advice.
  • Pensions accounting advice.

Description of the Role

  • Understand defined benefit pension schemes and actuarial liability calculations.
  • Understand pension accounting.
  • Analyze client data with actuarial techniques and models.
  • Produce technical actuarial work adhering to standards and quality procedures.
  • Check reasonableness of assumptions and results using developed tools.
  • Generate draft reports/emails from outputs.
  • Support daily case management, including administration and tracking.
  • Manage client projects end-to-end within deadlines.
  • Develop technical knowledge.
  • Maintain open communication within the team.
  • Ensure timely billing and debt collection.

Experience and Knowledge Requirements

  • Experience in pensions actuarial work in a consultancy or Big 4 firm (D).
  • Basic knowledge of scheme valuations, roll-forward methods, and actuarial techniques (D).
  • Understanding of the UK pensions landscape (D).
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) (E).
