Job summary

Eden Scott is recruiting a Senior Pensions Projects Specialist to lead and deliver a portfolio of pension projects from Edinburgh or Glasgow on a hybrid basis. You will manage complex data, engage with trustees and advisers, and drive improvements across GMP reconciliation and equalisation while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role requires extensive Defined Benefit experience, strong governance engagement, and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in Defined Benefit pension administration (min 5 years).
• Strong knowledge of UK pensions legislation and industry practice.
• Highly organised with ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office and pension admin systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of pension schemes and projects to high-quality delivery.
• Support bulk annuity transactions including data preparation and insurer engagement.
• Deliver benefit audit analysis and rectification work.
• Lead data analysis, cleansing and rectification exercises.
• Oversee GMP reconciliation, rectification and equalisation projects.
• Contribute to legal and technical reviews such as benefit specs and equalisation.
• Manage data prep and transfer work for transitions to insurers or other bodies.
• Maintain accurate member records in line with regulatory expectations.
• Set project timelines, track progress and support budget management.
• Provide updates at governance meetings.
• Assist with scheme administration and calculation testing.
• Act as a subject-matter specialist and guide less experienced colleagues.

Due to ongoing growth and business wins, an established and fast‑growing pensions services provider have a number of new positions for pensions projects specialists. These include senior which can be based either from Edinburgh or Glasgow hybrid. The organisation is known for delivering clear, practical solutions to occupational pension schemes and for supporting clients through complex administrative and regulatory challenges.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in managing and delivering a diverse portfolio of specialist pension projects. This position offers the chance to work on high‑value initiatives that directly improve outcomes for pension scheme members. The role involves close collaboration with trustees, advisers, insurers, and internal teams, providing an excellent platform for professional development within a supportive and progressive environment.

The Senior Pensions Projects Specialist will be responsible for:

• Supporting bulk annuity transactions, including data preparation, insurer engagement, and transition activity
• Delivering benefit audit analysis and rectification work
• Leading data analysis, cleansing, and rectification exercises
• Overseeing GMP reconciliation, rectification, and equalisation projects
• Contributing to legal and technical reviews, such as benefit specifications and equalisation requirements
• Managing data preparation and transfer work for transitions to insurers or other bodies
• Maintaining accurate member records in line with regulatory expectations
• Setting project timelines, tracking progress, and supporting budget management
• Providing updates at governance meetings
• Assisting with scheme administration and supporting calculation testing
• Acting as a subject‑matter specialist and providing guidance to less experienced colleagues

The role involves managing a personal portfolio of schemes and projects, ensuring delivery to high quality and within agreed service levels.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Experienced in Defined Benefit pension administration (minimum of five years but could consider less)
• Technically strong and knowledgeable in UK pensions legislation, regulation, and industry practice
• Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• An effective communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
• Confident using Microsoft Office and pension administration systems
• Solution‑focused, detail‑oriented, and committed to high‑quality output
• Experience with GMP reconciliation or equalisation calculations (desirable)
• Understanding of Pension Protection Fund processes (desirable)
