Job description

Why do people move jobs?

There are three main reasons:

  1. They aren't learning. Without learning, boredom sets in.
  2. There are no opportunities to progress.
  3. They don't feel fairly rewarded or treated.

Not problems you'll encounter at this business.

You already know about pensions, but this job will elevate that knowledge significantly. You'll be responsible for guiding financial planners on all their pension queries, helping them understand each case, explaining facts clearly, and devising solutions to their clients' problems.

In short, you'll become the go-to expert for everything pension-related.

Regarding progression, the company offers genuine promotion opportunities. They tend to promote internally when new roles arise, hiring externally only when necessary. Many employees have advanced or transitioned into other areas of the business, emphasizing professional development as a core principle.

Fairness is also a priority. The role offers an attractive starting salary between GBP45,000 and GBP50,000 annually, complemented by a generous bonus scheme paid annually since Covid, and an extensive benefits package including:

  • Non-contributory pension (10%)
  • 28 days leave
  • PHI
  • Critical Illness cover
  • Dental Insurance
  • Life Cover (x10)

The company trusts its staff; you'll need to be in the office 2 days a week, with the option to work from home the rest of the time. After 6 months, you may apply to work remotely full-time, though this isn't guaranteed.

Diversity is a genuine focus. While not perfect, the company recognizes areas for improvement and has plans to enhance representation. The percentage of women in leadership is projected to reach 40% in three years, and people of colour will comprise 12% of the workforce. They partner with charities supporting people with disabilities, work closely with the LGBTQ+ community, and collaborate with organizations representing neurodiverse individuals, demonstrating a commitment to fairness.

Here's what you'll need:

You might already be a pension specialist or a paraplanner/financial planner seeking to specialize further. Either way, you'll have a solid technical foundation.

You should be Level 4 qualified and possess the character to advise and challenge senior advisers when appropriate.
