We are looking for a Peer Support Worker to join our Homeless Mental Health Team on a full-time basis, Monday to Friday, 8.30am-4.30pm.
This role is specifically to engage and support people who are homeless experiencing mental health problems, helping them access available services. As a Peer Support Worker, you’ll offer companionship, understanding, and establish a caring, professional relationship to improve individuals’ socialisation and psychological resilience, particularly for those with chronic illnesses or those needing support in recovery. You will work alongside a supportive team, including Mental Health Practitioners, Support Time & Recovery workers, and Psychologists.
Due to the nature of the role, the Peer Support Worker must have lived experience of being homeless and having received support through Secondary Care Mental Health services. You’ll meet service users across the County, both in clinics and through street outreach, including those who are rough sleeping, in temporary accommodation, or recently housed. Flexibility with travel is essential, and a valid driving licence is required, as you will operate from various locations across the County, including some home working.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone to use their lived experience to help others. If you meet the criteria, we encourage you to apply!
For queries, contact Philip Johnson, Senior Mental Health Practitioner, at 07880 557638.
Work may include occasional out-of-hours working (enhancements paid). Mileage is calculated from the nearest LPT premises to your home address when traveling to visits, with rates payable from this designated location.
We may close the advert early if we receive sufficient applications, so apply promptly.
