The Peer Support Worker role is part of the peer support service within adult services at York Mind. The service operates in York Community MH Hubs, which are part of the Transforming Our City project, involving partners from the local authority, NHS, and voluntary sector organizations.
As a Peer Support Worker, you will provide 1-1 peer support to individuals accessing the service in community mental health hubs and throughout the community. The support may address various issues, including improving health and wellbeing, facilitating access to community activities, combating loneliness, or simply listening. Flexibility is essential, and you will draw on your own mental health experience to support others while maintaining professional boundaries. Note that you will be working with individuals who may have serious mental illnesses.
