An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Peer support worker to work in a dedicated and specialist multi-disciplinary eating disorders service for young people and their families which is part of our CAMHS service. The team recently won the Chairs Outstanding Performance award at the 2024 CFPT Staff awards.
The Post will be part of the Trust-wide Eating Disorder Team and will be based in Huntingdon or our clinics in Peterborough or Cambridge. The post will also involve visiting families within their homes and providing support within our home support team. We support hybrid working and equipment will be provided for you to be able to work from home as well. The team provides an outpatient service to children and young people up to the age of 18 who present with an eating disorder and their families / carers. The service also works closely with our local inpatient units and acute hospital trusts.
The post-holder will be offered the opportunity for continued professional development within a well-established multi-disciplinary service. Our service has a strong commitment to professional development through individual supervision, training, appraisal and an ethos of close multi-disciplinary working.
The post is a permanent role and full time hours. We will also consider part time hours.
- To work as part of the specialist CAMHS Eating disorder team to provide support to young people and their families, either in their homes or in a clinic based setting.
- As an integral and highly valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, the PSW will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to peers and other service users in order for them to regain control over their lives and their own unique recovery process.
- Through sharing the wisdom from own lived experience, the PSW will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. Within a relationship of mutuality, the PSW will facilitate and support information sharing to promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of socially valued roles and connection to local communities.
- The PSW will take a lead role in embedding recovery values within the CAMHS Eating disorder service, alongside other Trust Recovery Champions, and act as an ambassador of Recovery for the Trust with external agencies and partner organisations.
- The PSW will promote their role, through the provision of information and a range of learning opportunities for the multi-disciplinary team and others across the Trust.
- As a core member of the multi-disciplinary team, the PSW will work alongside an agreed number of peers and other service users on a 1:1 and/or group basis for at least 60% of their time.
