The Service

Cyfle Cymru is a Peer Mentoring project which helps people develop confidence to make positive life changes and provides support to access training, education, volunteering, and employment. Our peer mentors draw on their own lived experience to support people affected by substance misuse and/or mental health conditions. Cyfle Cymru supports people aged 16 to 24 (not in education, employment, or training) and those 25+ who are economically inactive or long-term unemployed.

Role Purpose

  • Provide support and guidance to all participants registered onto the project.
  • Develop ongoing action plans with participants, reviewed regularly.
  • Provide one-to-one support and group activities to aid participants' recovery development.
  • Work within the team structure to deliver services and outcomes.
  • Achieve project targets and outcomes set by Welsh Government.
  • Support the team leader and referral agents in raising awareness of the service.
  • Partner with other practitioners to deliver effective interventions for people with mental health and/or substance misuse issues.
  • Provide support and supervision to volunteers.

Requirements:

  • Full, current driving license and insured vehicle for business use.
  • Level 3 in Advice and Guidance (or equivalent).
  • Degree in a Health and Social Care related topic (or equivalent).
  • Training in safeguarding, substance awareness, harm reduction, psychosocial interventions.
  • Literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent IT skills: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, Internet Explorer.
  • Problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Flexible team player.
  • Effective interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals.
  • Commitment to Barod values and mission.
  • Experience in the substance use sector or similar.
  • Understanding of substance use treatment pathways.
  • Welsh language speaker.
  • Knowledge of ACEs and trauma-informed approaches.
