Job description

Overview

Do you have lived experience of drug and alcohol recovery? Are you ready to give something back? Do you want to develop your skills and take on a bit of a challenge?

We are looking for people with previous lived experience to become part of our Building Recovery in Communities (BRIC) - Peer Mentor team.

Responsibilities

It’s often overwhelming for people to make changes in their lives. You can help by giving your time as a volunteer peer mentor.

There are many ways you could help support other young people and our services, including:

  1. Being a voice for other service users, getting their feedback, and sharing ideas on how to improve the service.
  2. Helping shape how we deliver our services, contributing to social media posts, recruitment, and types of support we offer.
  3. Being a positive role model and promoting our service to other service users and those in the local community.
  4. Attending events and supporting the delivery of training.
  5. Being matched with a service user and working alongside them on a one-to-one basis, which can include supporting them to attend a group or appointment or checking in with them after they have left the service.

You will be a positive influence to the mentee, motivating, encouraging, and inspiring them to reach their potential. You will be provided with all the skills, training, and regular one-to-one support needed to help you carry out the role. This is the perfect role for someone who wants to be a positive role model, has a passion for supporting others, and wants to make a difference.
