Job summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital seeks a Health Care Play Specialist to join our pediatric team. You will undertake therapeutic assessments and devise play programmes for children and young people, aligned with overall care plans.

You will plan and implement tailored pre-procedure preparation, distraction therapy and post-procedural play, evaluating outcomes through reflective practice to achieve best results within a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• FdA Health Care Play Specialism or equivalent
• Registered SoHPS or CCLS
• Basic secondary education including English and Maths
• Experience with therapeutic play and child development
• Knowledge of health legislation and confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Undertake therapeutic assessments and devise play programmes for children and young people in hospital, according to individual needs and the care plan
• Plan and implement individual therapeutic play programmes including preparation for invasive and non-invasive procedures, distraction therapy and post-procedural play
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions using reflective practice to achieve best outcomes
