Job summary

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the UK is seeking a Band 6 Paediatric Emergency Department Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join our experienced Paediatric Emergency team. Based in the Emergency Department, you will coordinate care for sick children between assessment and transfer to Paediatric areas.

You will triage, lead shifts as Nurse in Charge, provide emergency care including resuscitation, and work with the multidisciplinary team to maintain safe patient flow.

Qualifications

• Registered children's nurse with experience in emergency care.
• Experience in triage and prioritising clinical presentations.
• Ability to supervise junior nurses and student staff.
• Ability to lead nurse-in-charge shifts and participate in wider trust activities.
• Coordinate care between Emergency Department and Paediatric areas.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality patient centred care in ED with timely triage.
• Act as Nurse in Charge during full shift and attend trust meetings/events.
• Provide emergency care including resuscitation when needed.
• Ensure efficient patient flow and liaise with multidisciplinary team.
• Supervise junior nurses and students and ensure policy compliance.
