PECS Home Tutor – Make a Real Difference One-to-One!
Location: Student’s home (parent/carer always present)
Hours: Flexible – full-time or part-time
Start Date: September 2025 | Until end of the academic year

Connex Education is looking for a passionate and experienced PECS Tutor to provide 1:1 support to children with communication needs who are currently not attending school.

This is a home-based role, so you’ll be delivering tailored tuition in a calm, familiar environment, with a parent or carer present throughout.

About the Role:

As a Home Tutor, you’ll:

  • Deliver engaging, personalised sessions using PECS to support communication development.

  • Work with students with Autism, SLD, Global Developmental Delay, and non-verbal communication needs.

  • Tailor lessons to suit individual EHCPs, academic ability, and learning styles.

  • Identify areas for development and adapt your teaching style accordingly.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and families.

You must have a dynamic and creative teaching style and the confidence to work independently in a 1:1 setting.

Assignment Details:
  • Starts September 2025

  • Long-term role until the end of the academic year

  • Tuition takes place in the student’s home, with a parent present

What You’ll Need:
  • QTS or equivalent (HLTA/experienced LSA considered)

  • Experience using PECS is essential

  • Confident working with SLD and non-verbal students

  • A resilient and calm approach, even when things get challenging

  • A valid enhanced DBS (on the update service or willing to apply)

  • Driving licence preferred but not essential

  • A real passion for helping young learners thrive
