Job description

The Role

We are working on behalf of a specialist SEMH provision to recruit a dedicated and inspiring PE Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and physical development and who wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.

You will be responsible for delivering a creative and accessible Physical Education curriculum across Key Stages 1 to 4. The successful candidate will promote confidence, resilience, teamwork, and emotional regulation through physical activity and sport, while also supporting pupils' individual educational and emotional needs. A key element of the role involves adapting teaching methods to align with EHCP targets, using trauma-informed strategies and a holistic approach to student development.

About the Provision

This specialist setting caters to students with SEMH needs who all hold Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Many are working below age-related expectations due to previous disruptions in their educational journeys. The school takes an integrated therapeutic approach to learning and aims to address individual barriers through targeted support, structured routines, and positive reinforcement.

Students benefit from a carefully designed curriculum that supports their academic, emotional, and behavioural development. The environment is nurturing and highly supportive, with strong emphasis placed on building relationships, trust, and aspiration. The school works closely with families and carers, providing guidance and a partnership approach that helps students succeed both in school and beyond.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a qualified PE Teacher (QTS or QTLS) with experience or a strong interest in working in alternative or specialist education settings. The ideal candidate will have the confidence to lead inclusive physical education sessions, the creativity to adapt lessons for students with varied physical and emotional needs, and a strong understanding of how to support young people who may display challenging behaviours. Experience with EHCPs, trauma-informed practice, and therapeutic or holistic approaches is highly desirable.

If you're a PE Teacher who wants to help transform the lives of young people and be part of a supportive, forward-thinking SEMH provision, we want to hear from you. Apply today to arrange a confidential conversation with one of our specialist consultants.
