Job summary

Groveside School is seeking a passionate PE Teacher to join our inclusive team in Reading. You will plan and deliver engaging PE lessons, lead extracurricular activities and monitor pupil progress to inspire participation and achievement across the school.

The role is permanent, 37.5 hours per week, start December 2026, with a salary of £45,000 per annum (subject to experience) plus a welcome bonus of £1,000. UK applicants only – sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A passion for PE, inspiring participation and wellbeing.
  • The ability to thrive in a fun, purposeful environment.
  • Strong relationship-building and restorative practice.
  • Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality PE lessons and activities.
  • Develop a vibrant extra-curricular PE offer.
  • Use assessment to monitor pupil progress and report on outcomes.
  • Adapt PE to ensure pupils with SEND and SEMH can participate safely.
  • Create safe, stimulating learning environments and organise equipment effectively.
  • Promote physical activity as a tool for confidence and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, LSAs, care staff and families to support pupils.

What you will be doing
  • Plan and deliver high‑quality PE lessons and physical development activities that inspire participation and progress
  • Build a vibrant extra‑curricular offer including clubs, wellbeing sessions, team games and enrichment opportunities
  • Use assessment to monitor, record and report on pupil progress, celebrating success and supporting every learner
  • Adapt PE and physical activity to ensure pupils with SEND and SEMH needs can participate safely and meaningfully
  • Create safe, stimulating learning environments, organising equipment, spaces and groupings effectively
  • Promote physical activity as a tool for confidence, regulation, teamwork and personal development
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, LSAs, care staff and families to ensure consistent support for pupils
  • Contribute to curriculum development, school improvement priorities and the wider life of the school
What you will bring

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

About Us

Groveside School is a Special Educational Needs School for Pupils 7 - 16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Our school opened in September 2024 and will cater for 60 pupils.
