GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated PE Teacher to join a forward-thinking school in Ashington. This role is ideal for educators passionate about promoting physical health, teamwork, and resilience among pupils.

About the Role

As a PE Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging lessons that develop pupils’ skills, confidence, and enthusiasm for sport and physical activity. The successful candidate will be expected to teach across all key stages and contribute to the wider life of the school through extra-curricular sport and fitness initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a varied PE curriculum across a range of sports and physical activities.
  • Promote positive attitudes towards health, fitness, and well-being.
  • Prepare lesson plans, monitor progress, and assess student performance effectively.
  • Foster team spirit, fair play, and sportsmanship in every session.
  • Manage behaviour effectively in practical and theory-based lessons.
  • Take part in school sports fixtures, clubs, and events, supporting whole-school engagement.
  • Ensure all health and safety standards are upheld in indoor and outdoor environments.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with specialism in Physical Education.
  • Experience teaching PE within a secondary school setting (placements considered for ECTs).
  • Sound knowledge of the PE National Curriculum and ability to adapt lessons for mixed-ability groups.
  • A strong role model with excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Enthusiasm for sport and physical education, with the ability to inspire and motivate pupils.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
